Brisbane City Elopement ~ Felicity + Liam

Brisbane City Elopement amidst an Urban Wonderland

One of the most endearing things about art is its ability to transcend traditional narratives, merging worlds and weaving stories that captivate and inspire. While Brisbane may not have the Mad Hatter or the Queen of Hearts, it was the perfect backdrop for Felicity & Liam’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed elopement.

Felicity is an Artist, Liam is a Theological Scholar. Just a few weeks after their Brisbane City Elopement, Felicity and Liam will be wheels up and moving to Cambridge, UK, where Liam will take up a PhD position.

With this new chapter ahead, their elopement wasn't merely a union of two souls but also a heartfelt ode to Brisbane. The itinerary and all photo locations were lovingly chosen for a heart-warming goodbye tour through their city.

A Prelude to Promises at The Royal Albert Hotel

As the first rays of the sun touched Brisbane’s skyline, I arrived at the Royal Albert Hotel where the couple was getting ready together. Felicity was putting on her wedding dress and cuissardes {over-the-knee leather boots}, while Liam was having a cup of tea by the floor-length window, gathering his thoughts. Perhaps he was soaking in the gravity of the day, or perhaps he was just enjoying the view.

Both Liam and his Best Man had coordinated with each other to wear a turtleneck and jacket - a clear indication that Liam will have zero trouble blending in at Cambridge with his personal style being reminiscent of the epic 60ies Beatles fashion, John Lennon glasses, sideburns and all.

As the city outside slowly awakened to its usual rhythm, Felicity touched up her makeup, put on her headpiece, and off we went onto the streets and into the early morning hum of Brisbane’s streets.

Of Croissants and Tales to Tell

Before the day's events, we made our way to Lune Croissanterie, a haven for pastry enthusiasts. It was more than a mere breakfast choice; it was a little reminder of Felicity and Liam’s love for the finer things in life, everything French, and their shared passion for culture.

Just across the lane from Lune, Felicity showed me a tiny red 'Alice in Wonderland' door, which was one of her favourite secrets about Brisbane. Easy to miss because it was so tiny and in an unassuming location, the tiny red door’s charm lay not just in its design, but in its symbolism: a gateway to wonder, much like the day that lay ahead for Felicity and Liam.

Commitment in the Sky: Brisbane Registry Office Ceremony

Nestled on level 32 of the ‘180 Brisbane’ building, with floor-length windows offering panoramic city views, the Brisbane Registry was the perfect setting for this elopement. The city stretched out beneath Felicity and Liam as they exchanged vows, enveloped in soft, ambient light.

A highly sought out location for Brisbane weddings and elopements, the space offers a unique blend of urban backdrops and an intimate, private ambiance where it can feel as if the city at your feet is wrapping the newlyweds in its embrace, whispering blessings for their future.

High Tea at The Room of Roses at Brisbane Arcade

Brisbane’s Room of Roses upstairs in the Brisbane Arcade with its Old World refinement played host to their post-ceremony celebratory High Tea with their closest friends and family who had all wandered over from the Brisbane registry, just across King George Square. Amidst the delicate clinking of china, fragrant teas and macarons, gifts and speeches were exchanged and the room was alive with soft laughter, anecdotes, and memories.

Rockinghorse Record Store

For their couple photos, Felicity and Liam’s first chosen stop was the eclectic Rockinghorse Record Store, which brought alive their shared musical moments here throughout the years. Felicity surprised Liam with a song that the store played just for the two of them. They danced, they rummaged through records and purchased a record each to mark the occasion.

Archives Fine Books

Felicity and Liam's love story is intrinsically tied to Brisbane's heart. As we roamed its streets, every nook held a tale, every corner a cherished memory. Our next stop at Archives Fine Books Store on George Street was a nod to their love for stories, both lived and read.

It was another location they couldn't miss. Liam, with his theological background and his imminent PhD journey at Cambridge clearly has a deep love for literature and scholarly texts. Visiting this iconic bookstore, brimming with ancient tomes and modern tales, like Alice, they always find themselves in a world of wonder, surrounded by stories waiting to be told.

We ended our photo voyage where it began: at their room at the Royal Albert Hotel for some final shots. The soft play of light, the draped curtains, and antique furniture helped us put a fitting final chapter to this little visual masterpiece that is their elopement photo collection.

Crafting a Legacy in Print with our Editorial Magazine

As a tangible memory of their day, Felicity and Liam commissioned us with the design of one of our Italian-made Editorial Magazines where every page is crafted with precision to remember the story of the day. Our magazine design services include the professional and beautiful formatting of any text of choice as a standard inclusion, not as an extra, because written words of vows, lyrics, quotes and readings provide another layer of instant memories. The thought of this cherished heirloom soon making its journey from our esteemed Italian printers over to their new home in Cambridge fills me with pure joy.

Epilogue

Felicity and Liam's elopement was a tale of many layers. At its heart, it was about love – pure, profound, and eternal. But it was also about bidding farewell to a city that had nurtured their relationship.

Through my lens, I had the privilege of capturing not just an elopement, but a narrative that spanned cityscapes, intimate corners, shared secrets, and promises. It was a day when Brisbane didn't just play host to a wedding but became an integral character in Felicity and Liam's love story. Their elopement stands as a testament to Lovelenscapes' commitment to capturing moments that transcend the ordinary, turning them into timeless memories.

In the end, their day was a beautiful juxtaposition of looking back with fondness and looking ahead with hope. As they set forth on their new journey in Cambridge, Brisbane's skyline, its sunlit streets, and its whispered tales will always echo in their hearts. And for me, their story remains a cherished chapter, a reminder of the magic that unfolds when love, art, and a city's soul come together.

For the couple, the photos weren’t just about capturing their elopement but weaving a narrative around it. Every shot taken that day exuded artistry and emotions, thanks to Felicity's keen eye and their Photographer's ability to share in their vision. The resulting photographs weren’t mere snapshots but meaningful memories.

In a world that often rushes towards grandeur and extravagance, Felicity and Liam chose simplicity, authenticity, and art. Their ‘Alice in Wonderland’-themed elopement serves as a testament that when two souls are in harmony, the universe conspires to make their journey as enchanting as their favourite tales.

Brisbane, with its endless charms, had been their playground, their sanctuary, and on this elopement day, their witness.
