ABOUT

We are a boutique wedding photography business based in Brisbane, run by Doruk & Tina, a husband and wife team. You can meet us in the little paragraphs about us below or in real life (drinks on us).

Each year, we only take on a limited number of weddings because we dedicate a lot of time, love and personalised service to each of our fabulous couples. Our photography services include wedding, elopement, engagement and boudoir photography. We also love the occasional styled shoot and creative collaborations.

We are firm admirers of the #printyourphotos memo, and love to create digital fine art prints and wedding albums for our clients. We always bring album and print samples to our client meetings. We even home-print on pine and cedar wood, which is a bit extra special.

Meet Tina

I have spent one third of my life in Australia now, so technically I am one part German, one part Dutch and one part Aussie. I grew up in Berlin of the 1980s and 90s in a family of academics who loved the outdoors and film photography. My mum and dad had boxes full of slides of their adventures around East Germany and the countries they were allowed to travel to at the time. I was five when the Wall came down and after that my parents' boxes filled with new photo treasures from climbs of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Everest and other curious places, far beyond our former borders.

One day my mum didn't return from one of her mountains. All that returned was her camera, unbothered by the snow and ice it had been buried in... and with a film still in it. I took my mum's camera together with her lioness courage and decided to march forward to make something good out of the life I was given.

I have set up darkrooms at each school I went to and magically found my tribe of friends anywhere in the world. I have protected those who are weak, I have looked after the children in my life, studied English, French, Dutch and Latin, moved to The Netherlands, studied Neuropsychology, did my PhD in Australia, spoke at Harvard Medicine as an invited lecturer, took photos, which made me happy, then followed my heart and founded Lovelenscapes Photography in 2011 while I was still in science... I have travelled, I have loved, had many accidents, and I have lived more lives than most, but that is what lions do.

The best thing I did amongst it all was to marry Mr Doruk. He gave my soul the peace to slow down a bit and his talent and experience combined with mine gave my life the missing piece of the puzzle to take the plunge and work as a photographer at Lovelenscapes full-time.

On a somewhat lighter note, I am also famous for making terrible puns, have a loud laugh and I look funny when I am running. The next language I want to learn is Turkish and after our recent month-long stay in Istanbul, I am finally starting to understand a few bits here and there.

Weddings make my heart sing because I can contribute all of my presence, talent and love, to the energy of the wedding day and to the way it will be remembered by those who were present and by those who are yet to be born.

Meet Doruk

I studied 3-D filming and photography in Istanbul before I moved to Brisbane, many moons ago now.

Buzzing, high-speed environments that challenge me to become incredibly focused are my favourites. I could never have been a still-life photographer.

In Istanbul, I was running my own studio, but whenever I wasn't working there, I was out and about for the local press shooting fast-paced fashion events and drift car races or I was in the mountains on my bike, going downhill - fast.

After meeting my wife and now business partner Tina in Brisbane, who was both a stressed-out neuroscientist and blissfully happy wedding photographer at the time (I know, right?!), we felt a bit like we were meant to work on weddings together. This was when the most creatively-fulfilling times of both of our lives began and we haven't looked back.

I can't do anything half-heartedly. With Australia being such a coffee-loving society, I got entirely into coffee making, to the point of working as a barista at various cafés around here for a few years. So yeah, I love coffee.

I am also the boss in my family's kitchen and could spend entire weeks refining certain recipes, mostly Turkish and Mediterranean ones. If there is chilli involved, I love recipe excursions to anywhere in the world. We even found the world's hottest chilli on the Caboolture Country Markets near Brisbane and bought a batch. We love them.

In an evil twist of fate, I am good at cooking any cuisine, apart from German food. Yes, Tina eats everything I prepare, but not the German dishes... She thinks my German cooking is horrible, but that's just because both her grandmothers were each too great a chef for anyone to compete with. The good thing is that we are spending time in Europe every other year, so there is still hope for me to learn how to cook German food.

Tina's bad puns are slowly killing me, but I have learnt to just laugh at them and recommend the same to others or she will try to explain why it's funny.

Why we do what we do

As you can see from our snippets above, we're polar opposites in our background and approach to photography. We surely had hilarious moments when we shot our first weddings together. Now, many weddings later, we can say that we have found our perfect little dance together through a wedding day where each of us leads and follows the other at different times. What can we say, we adore what we do and we couldn't think of a better way to spend a weekend than at a wedding, surrounded by all the magic of new beginnings. All our wedding packages include a free engagement session, so by the time your wedding comes around, we will be really comfortable around one another without having to break any ice.

The wedding day itself can pass like a dreamy whirlwind and it is often through our wedding photos that we grasp and remember everything that unfolded around us, all the magic. As seasoned Brisbane-based wedding photographers, it is our job to be by your side throughout your wedding preparation and on your special day. To us, it is an honour to be chosen as the ones who can create your future treasures. In fact, we love nothing more than doing exactly that.

Our journey together starts with you saying hi. Even if you're still in the early stages of planning your wedding, just tell us what you're thinking at the moment. If your wedding is not in Australia or Europe, it's a good idea to tell us where you're thinking about getting married asap. Sometimes the stars align and we can travel to your location without or with minimal travel costs if we're in the area or on the move anyways. We can't wait to celebrate with you. xx Tina & Doruk
